Berry off the mark for JP Parnell Street stretched away in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the novice handicap chase at Limerick. He duelled with 33/1 shot Wright Flyer turning for home but got the better of that rival at the second last. Mark Walsh sent his mount clear before the final fence and he kept up a strong gallop to power clear for a eight-length verdict over that rival. The winner was sent off 4/1 joint favourite, with third placed Quiamo Malta, following a promising effort on his handicap debut at Naas back in November. "That's my first winner for JP (McManus) and it's a long time coming," said trainer John Berry afterwards. "He had a good run last time and I thought the trip might be too sharp today but the ground slowed the others down. "I'll up him in trip next time and he has the makings of a nice three-mile chaser."
