Big day for Buchanan Peter Buchanan has come in for the ride on Big Shu in the Crabbie's Grand National at Aintree on Saturday week. Paul Carberry has ridden the Peter Maher-trained nine-year-old on his two starts this season, most recently finishing third when trying to defend his crown in the cross-country chase at the Cheltenham Festival. But with Carberry set for the mount on leading National contender Monbeg Dude, Maher has moved to snap up the services of Buchanan. "Peter has been booked to ride the horse and we're very pleased," said the County Kildare handler. "He'll come over and school him during the week. "The horse is in great form and we're looking forward to the race."
