Binocular enjoying break at Martinstown Champion Hurdle third Binocular will not run again this season as connections save him for next year. The Nicky Henderson-trained five-year-old was sent off the 6/4 favourite at the Cheltenham Festival when he lost out by half-a-length to stablemate Punjabi. That was just his third run of the season but he won't be having a fourth as he is back at owner JP McManus' stud farm in County Limerick. Henderson told At The Races, 'He's already back in Ireland and tucked up in bed in Martinstown. It was always the plan to have a light campaign as a five-year-old.' When reflecting on the Champion Hurdle, Henderson conceded that his preparations for the race were far from ideal saying, 'He was held up a bit by the weather, and I think we were just possibly a week too soon.' Binocular is the 5/1 favourite with Sky Bet for the 2010 Champion Hurdle.
