Binocular set for Kempton's Christmas Hurdle

Binocular is likely to race next in the William Hill Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on St Stephen's Day.

Last season's Champion Hurdle hero is on course for a Christmas appearance after finishing third at odds-on to Peddlers Cross in the rearranged Fighting Fifth at Newbury on Saturday.

Nicky Henderson's charge will attempt to improve on his third place behind Go Native last December when he was sent off a short-priced favourite.

"He hurdled well at Newbury and ran well. He should come on for the run. Hopefully he'll go to Kempton at Christmas next," said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.

Binocular is ante-post favourite at around 4-1 to retain his title at Cheltenham in March.
