Black type over hurdles the plan for Al Arrivee Willie Mullins suffered a number of reverses earlier on the card, but the well-bred Al Arrivee ensured the champion trainer didn’t leave Punchestown empty handed when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. The half-sister to Mullins’ dual Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo added to a win at Sligo last summer in the hands of the trainer’s son Patrick. False Dawn built up a sizeable lead after halfway but was reeled in entering the straight and Al Arrivee was sent to the front over a furlong out. The 5/6 favourite kept on well to score by a comfortable three and a quarter lengths with Brave Lady keeping on into second ahead of False Dawn.
