Willie Mullins suffered a number of reverses earlier on the card, but the well-bred Al Arrivee ensured the champion trainer didn’t leave Punchestown empty handed when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.

The half-sister to Mullins’ dual Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo added to a win at Sligo last summer in the hands of the trainer’s son Patrick. False Dawn built up a sizeable lead after halfway but was reeled in entering the straight and Al Arrivee was sent to the front over a furlong out.

The 5/6 favourite kept on well to score by a comfortable three and a quarter lengths with Brave Lady keeping on into second ahead of False Dawn.

Willie Mullins said, “She did it well giving weight away all round. She has a lovely pedigree, closely related to Al Boum Photo.

“I'm hoping now to go over hurdles and possibly get some black type with her before we send her to stud next season.”
