Blank day for racing

There is no racing taking place in the UK and Ireland today with the news that this afternoon's meeting at Wolverhampton has been abandoned due to an unraceable track.

Extreme temperatures at Dunstall Park forced clerk of the course Fergus Cameron to call a 6.30am inspection and that check was not favourable.

He said: "We have abandoned. The temperature didn't get much above minus 6C yesterday and it's minus 11C now with freezing fog.

"We have basically got frozen moisture suspended in the track and although we have been working it, it is still freezing and the forecast for today is minus 5C with a likelihood of fog, so we have called it off."

Punchestown had been scheduled to race today but was another track to fall victim to the cold snap.
