Blue Bunting comes up trumps in 1000 Guineas Godolphin clinched the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket when Blue Bunting stayed on stoutly alongside the stands-side rail under Frankie Dettori to win the fillies' classic by three parts of a length. Mahmood Al Zarooni's charge was backed from 33/1 to 16/1. Together from the Aidan O'Brien stable belied her odds of 33/1 to run a tremendous race in second with John Gosden's Maqaasid a length and a half back in third at 22/1 in a race in which the favourites didn't feature. A delighted Frankie Dettori said: "This is a pleasant surprise. She had a lot to prove on form but has been working well. "Whatever happened today was a bonus as she is more of an Oaks filly. She will definitely stay a mile and a half." The well-fancied Memory from Richard Hannon's yard runined her chances by not jumping from the stalls and was completely tailed off last during the race. Aidan O'Brien's other runner, Misty For Me, finished 11th while Jessica Harrington's Laughing Lashes was disappointing in 17th, a place ahead of Memory.
