Bob ready for Punchestown

Bob Lingo aims to continue his climb up the chasing ladder at Punchestown on Wednesday.

The Tom Mullins-trained nine-year-old opened his account over fences with a bloodless success at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day and will bid to follow up in the Follow Us On Facebook Novice Chase.

The gelding also had the option of running in this weekend's rearranged Dr PJ Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown, but Mullins has decided to let his charge line up in what looks a slightly easier event.

"We had him in the Moriarty but we have decided to let him go to Punchestown. We're just hoping all the rain doesn't arrive by tomorrow," said Mullins.

"He couldn't have done any more than he did at Fairyhouse the last day. He was good and he seemed to be fresh enough at the line.

"He's taken a while to get fit this season but I think once we got him right, he showed what he can do at Fairyhouse.

"He seems in good order at the moment and we'd be hopeful of another good run."

Bob Lingo holds an entry in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and Mullins says he will have another run after Wednesday if he is to travel to Prestbury Park.

"If all went well, then we might think about Cheltenham, but I think we'd have to run him left-handed somewhere before venturing across the water," the trainer added.

Bob Lingo faces five rivals over two miles and six furlongs on Wednesday.

Champion trainer Willie Mullins saddles Hampshire Express, while Roi Du Mee, Healys Bar, Inverglen and Time Electric complete the field.
