Bodhi Bear recorded a fourth career win and second this season when justifying 100/30 favouritism in the Navan Racing Festival Early Bird Tickets On Sale Now Handicap.

The Fozzy Stack-trained gelding was ridden to challenge over a furlong out by Seamie Heffernan and got on top in the final 100 yards.

The son of Starspangledbanner had three-quarters of a length to spare over The Highway Rat who not for the first time was a bit slowly away from stalls, with Erosandpsyche a further half a length back in third.

Stack said, "I was just saying to the owners, Sophie and John (Barrett) before the race, that since he has been gelded, he has definitely settled down. Beforehand, he was sweating and things before the race.

"He has (plenty of pace) and he will be alright. Five (furlongs) on goodish ground is probably sharp enough for him. No (didn't mind the rain), only sorry we didn't have a bit more, but anyway he got away with it.

"He did (everything right in the race today) and I suppose a stiff five or an easy six is probably his thing. He enjoys it here and won as a two-year-old here."

When asked if he had thought beyond today, he replied: "I suppose the Rockingham (at Curragh), the Scurry might be stretching it a bit."
