Bolger - Goldrun Likely To Go For Falmouth

Jim Bolger is leaning towards running Alexander Goldrun in what could be a vintage renewal of the UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes next Tuesday.

The globetrotting filly was in action last weekend in her native Ireland when winning the Pretty Polly Stakes, and her trainer just wants to make sure she has completely recovered before he gives the go-ahead to travel to Newmarket.

Alexander Goldrun will be seeking a fourth Group One win in the Falmouth, which was promoted to the top category for the first time last year.

'We will only decide at the last minute, but at the moment she is more likely to go than not,' said Bolger on Thursday.

'Obviously, we are keeping out options open because she has just run at the weekend and while she seems in good form and at the top of her game, there is no pressure to make an irrevocable decision.

'But I would say she was very likely to travel.'

Soviet Song and Attraction, first and second in last year´s race, are set to clash again in the mile contest on the first day of the Newmarket July meeting.

James Fanshawe´s mare, installed the 5-2 favourite with Coral, ended Attraction´s eight-race unbeaten record 12 months ago, and the pair were part of a field of nine to stand their ground at the five-day stage.
