Owned and bred by Philip Reynolds, Lola O C made a winning debut in the concluding Brian Keenan On-Course Bookmaker INH Flat Race at Roscommon this evening.

Given the most patient of rides by John Gleeson, the Henry de Bromhead-trained 13/8 favourite had nine horses in front of her turning into the straight and she picked them all off to lead early inside the final furlong, winning by two and a half lengths from Gerard O’Leary’s 9/2 chance Mountain Sky at the line.

Representing the winning trainer, Robbie Power said, “We’re delighted with that. She’s a nice filly and she had been doing things nicely at home.

“Her mother won a bumper first time out as well. We were looking forward to her. It was her first day at school and it was a case of getting a nice education.

“John gave her a lovely ride and she came through nicely at the end, and showed a nice turn of foot.

“They didn’t go that quick and John thought it turned into a sprint. To come from where she came from was a good performance.

“She was green and she’ll come on plenty for it. It was a nice start.

“We’ll chat to Henry and Philip and see what they want to do. She looks like she’ll definitely have a chance in a winners’ bumper. There is plenty of improvement to come, hopefully.”
