Botti plans Sugar Boy's campaign Sugar Boy could have his first run for Marco Botti at Goodwood next week. The Authorized colt emerged as one of the leading middle-distance contenders of his generation after winning the Sandown Classic Trial for Patrick Prendergast. He was sold to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum just prior to his run in the Irish Derby, in which he found the fast ground all against him, and was subsequently switched to Botti's Newmarket yard. "Sugar Boy is back in fast work now but he won't run on anything other than ground with a bit of cut," said Botti. "There's a Listed race at Goodwood next Wednesday (Greene King Foundation Stakes) and that might be the race for him. "It will be nice to run him at around that level so we can see where we are with him, rather than throw him straight into a Group One. "He's entered in the Champion Stakes but that might be too much for him, we'll just have to see. "There'll be some nice races coming up at the end of the season for him where he should get his ground. "The ground was very fast in the Irish Derby and Libertarian bounced back in the St Leger after running a similar race at the Curragh."
