Boughey counting down to the Guineas with Bow Echo George Boughey reports Bow Echo to be thriving as he prepares for his three-year-old season following an unbeaten juvenile campaign. Classic Aspirations for Unbeaten Star The Night Of Thunder colt will be aimed at the Betfred 2000 Guineas after winning a maiden, the Listed Ascendant Stakes and then the Group Two Royal Lodge last year. “He’s wintered super, he’s started doing some faster work now,” Boughey told Racing TV. “He’s a horse who has always been pretty expressive from day one and he’s certainly going the right way. “The plan is very much to head straight to the Guineas. He couldn’t have done any better in our eyes, he’s the unbeaten two-year-old that we haven’t had yet.” Miler Profile and Future Targets Boughey sees Bow Echo – who runs in the colours of the late Sheikh Mohammed Obaid – as an out-and-out miler and therefore has not given him a Derby entry. He continued: “He was our highest-rated two-year-old, he’s shown that turn of foot. He’s a miler, we didn’t need to put him in the Derby the other day as he’s probably going to stay to the mile – he’s done everything right so far. “He’s big enough, there were a few people knocking him last year, but when you’re running in Royal Lodges and things like that you’re taking on horses with more stamina. “The horses behind him – you’ve got a Ulysses (Humidity) and a Frankel, a brother to a Derby winner (Action, half-brother to Lambourn). He’s a miler and he lacks a bit of scope that those mile-and-a-half horses have, but as a miler he’s absolutely perfect.”
