Brega switches back to hurdles at Clonmel The King Of Brega makes his first start over timber since joining Henry de Bromhead when lining up for the Derrygrath Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel on Thursday. The Court Cave gelding failed to make much impression in the Galway Plate on his most recent outing and is now switched back to the smaller obstacles where he can compete off a 20lb lower mark. His form has been a bit hit-and-miss but he has struck twice over fences since joining the yard and was very impressive when scoring at Limerick in early July. Connections will be hoping a drop in grade can reap rewards in the three-mile contest, and promising claimer Conor Brassil has been booked for the ride. Recent Kilbeggan winner Crosshue Boy looks an obvious threat as he bids to defy a 4lb penalty for last Friday's success. Sean Doyle's charge ran out a good winner at the midlands track and now steps back up to three miles having landed his maiden hurdle over the trip at Punchestown back in May. Joseph O'Brien appears to have a couple of live chances earlier on the card in the shape of Rosshaven Lady and Udogo. Rosshaven Lady was let down by her jumping at Tramore when fifth to Glendine River but may face slightly weaker opposition now in the Kilsheelan Mares Maiden Hurdle. The dual bumper winner seems to have been found a nice opportunity to make the breakthrough over hurdles. Udogo has been a good servant for connections on the level and now switches his attention to jumping in the New Inn Opportunity Maiden Hurdle. The four-time winner moved to a career-high mark after his latest success at Leopardstown last month so it looks a good time to try his hand over hurdles. The opening Mylerstown Maiden Hurdle looks at the mercy of Wakea as his bids to atone for his disqualification from a Down Royal contest in May. He was an easy winner back then but lost the race subsequently after testing positive for a prohibited substance.
