Browne McMonagle fires in sparkling four-timer via Leinster Dylan Browne McMonagle is riding the crest of a wave in the Curragh this afternoon as he brought up his four-timer that paid almost 877/1 on strong-finishing Leinster in the Group 3 Irish St Leger Trial Stakes. Dallas Star and Seamie Heffernan set out to make all over this mile and six trip and they were still putting in a good shift well inside the final quarter of a mile. Leinster (6/1) who had raced in third in this four-runner field was soon stoked up by Browne McMonagle who sent his mount past Dallas Star a furlong out. The race was soon over as the four-year-old gelding galloped away to put four and a-quarter lengths on Dallas Star. Puppet Master, the 10/11 favourite, came in last of the four runners. Browne McMonagle said, “We went a steady speed, and he was a bit in my hands all the way. I’d love if they had gone on a stride, but I just needed to get him to relax today because we were riding him forward and he was just doing too much the last couple of days. “Today, coming back in trip and up in grade, I thought there would have been more of an even gallop on, but we did go slow again. “I was comfortable down past the two (pole) and I just let him flow. He stays this trip well and is a good horse.” This also gave Joseph O'Brien a double as he supplied Brown McMonagle with Mushaffar (5/1) in the opener. The jockey was also successful on Ipanema Queen (6/5f) and Queen Of Mougins (17/2). He headed off to Tramore where he has another three rides this evening. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
