The Tom McCourt-trained Bullet Bourbon (33/1) got off the mark at the fiftieth time of asking with victory in the Racing TV Free One Month Trial Handicap under jockey Robert Whearty.

Having been in rear throughout, the three-year-old daughter of Sioux Nation picked up readily to lead in the last 150 yards and ran out a winner by half a length.

Speaking after the race, jockey Robert Whearty said:

"She can be a little bit awkward, she is hard on herself.

"I suppose the main thing was just trying to get her into some sort of a rhythm, which she just finds hard to do. There today, everything kind of worked out fine - I got into a nice sort of rhythm and travelled in well. She did finish off well - when she relaxes, she is well able to do it.

"Her work at home is good, and hopefully she can just progress now and learn from that."
