Burke to miss weekend rides Jockey Jonathan Burke is to sit out this weekend's meetings and also the early action in February as a result of a fall at Thurles on Thursday. Galway Plate winning jockey Burke received a fall from Sizing Silver at the fourth last fence in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase and was subsequently taken for x-rays on a sore neck. Burke's agent Gary Cribin today stated “Johnny was booked for rides this weekend but misses them having had a scan at the Hermitage Medical Clinic yesterday. “He has a minor compression to his T3 and T4 and is under Doctor Paddy Kenny who said the injury just needs rest. He will be reassessed in ten days time and we will be guided from there.” Burke, in his first full season as a non-claimer, has ridden 38 winners this season. By Tom Weekes
