Burrows Drive confirmed the promise of his previous two starts when taking the Racing Next On April 8th (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race in impressive fashion at Navan.

The Authorized gelding has come up against some useful sorts when third to Sixandahalf at last year’s Punchestown Festival and filling the runner-up spot behind the highly regarded Copacabana here last month.

The 3/1 joint favourite made all under Finny Maguire and quickened clear when asked for an effort a furlong out before staying on strongly to beat Ma Jacks Hill by 12 lengths. Bon Viveur was a further 11 lengths back in third.

Winning trainer Philip Dempsey said, “We’re delighted, that was really good. He built on his run here and I suppose he was the form horse coming into it.

“We’ll see what the owner has to say, whether he goes again at Punchestown or if we put him away and go hurdling next season.

“Finny said he might like better ground, but I always thought he’d handle any ground. I’d say he’s a big horse that likes a cut. I’m delighted to have him.”
