Call The Wind was a hugely impressive winner of the Longines Turf Handicap in Riyadh for France.

Trained by Freddy Head, the six-year-old was without a victory to his name since landing the Prix du Cadran in October 2018, but he certainly was not winning out of turn.

Ridden by weighing-room veteran Olivier Peslier, he could be spotted from a long way out, picking his rivals off one by one.

Several of the British-trained challengers looked a threat entering the final two furlongs, with Cross Counter, Prince Of Arran and the eventual second Mekong all on the premises.

There was only one horse in it from a win perspective, though, as Call The Wind sprinted away to record a valuable success.

Mekong justified Jamie Osborne’s faith in him and almost repaid his purchase price in one go, while Prince Of Arran yet again did Charlie Fellowes proud back in third.
