Canford Cliffs' season finishes

Canford Cliffs will not run in the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on October 2 and has been put away for the year.

Richard Hannon's juvenile won a Newbury maiden on debut by seven lengths and followed up in stunning style in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

However, he lost his unbeaten tag in the Prix Morny at Deauville and came back from that excursion badly jarred up.

"Everything is OK with him but he is finished for the year now," said Hannon.

"He got pretty badly jarred up in France so we'll give him some time off until next year."

Canford Cliffs was one of 30 to be taken out of the Group One Middle Park, with 33 remaining in contention.
