Canford Cliffs so impressive in Coventry

Canford Cliffs turned the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot into a procession with an scintillating victory.

The 7-4 favourite never gave his supporters an anxious moment as the two-year-old colt led over a furlong out and stormed home by six lengths from Xtension, with Rakaan three-quarters of a length away third. He had won on his debut by seven lengths.

The winner was completing a double for jockey Richard Hughes and trainer Richard Hannon, who had earlier taken the Queen Anne Stakes with Paco Boy.
