Sonny Carey has enjoyed a fine season with eight of his 12 individual runners having hit the target, two of them at Downpatrick on Sunday, and the Caragh handler had news of a couple of mares in his yard.

Goliath's Sun, bought for 42,000 Euro at last summer's Goffs Arkle Sale, is a half-sister to five-time winner Non Stop and to 120-rated maiden hurdler San Hilario.

The unraced four-year-old has an entry in the Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival and Carey commented "She's a nice filly and is by a stallion (Goliath Du Berlais) that is doing great at the moment.

"Hopefully we get there in one piece, but she's nice."

On Brosna Shine, third in last year's running of the Goffs Defender Bumper and a winner at Fairyhouse on her second start, was last seen when finishing fifth in a Grade 2 at the Dublin Racing Festival.

"She might go to Aintree (for a Grade 2 on Thursday week), but we will probably wait for Punchestown (Grade 3) with her," said the in-form trainer.
