Carrigmoornaspruce targets DRF Declan Queally is hoping to build on yesterday’s high-profile Gowran double as the trainer’s promising mare Carrigmoornaspruce steps up in grade next, at the Dublin Racing Festival next month. Queally, whose son and namesake plays a pivotal part in the yard’s operation, recorded a Gowran double on Thyestes Day yesterday with wins coming in the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle with Rocky’s Diamond and bumper debutante Carrigmoorna Beech. Carrigmoorna Beech’s half-sister Carrigmoornaspruce is herself a recent dual bumper winner and with an engagement in Leopardstown’s Grade 2 Coolmore N.H. Sires Irish EBF Mares Bumper next month, Queally junior says “she worked this morning and I was very happy with her so it’s all systems go for Leopardstown. “She’s done well since her last run. We haven’t been overly hard on her but she’s done a couple of nice sharp bits of work in the last two weeks and I think she’s back up to where she needs to be. “Hopefully next week will go smoothly and we get her there in one piece.”
