Carroll doubles up on Charms Saxony Charms produced a fine front-running performance to land the concluding Equiwinner Patches Fillies Maiden at the Curragh, giving Gary Carroll a double on the card. The well-backed 9/2 shot bounced out in front and found plenty in the straight. Andy Oliver’s charge repelled the challenge of Sunatia to record a two-length win in the nine furlong contest. It was a fifth career outing for the daughter of Saxon Warrior, who had been placed on her debut here in May. “It was a good performance. We just employed different tactics today and things worked out,” said Oliver. “She’s a filly that has been knocking on the door and has been slightly frustrating but Gary got it right today. “She got to the front, he got a nice breather into her, and she stayed well. She hit the line strong. “She worked like a nice filly earlier in the year and ran well on her first day, when we thought she was possible a bit unlucky. “Then she repeated the same thing a couple of times afterwards so it was a wee bit frustrating. “She works well from the front at home so we decided to change things and get her to the front today.” Carroll had also partnered Invincible Will to success earlier on the card.
