Casey dreaming of National glory with Flamingo Francis Casey is dreaming of Irish Grand National glory on Monday when the well fancied Max Flamingo lines up in the historic handicap chase at Fairyhouse. The Stamullen handler was part of his late father Peter's team when Flemenstar won three Grade Ones for the yard and is hoping to hit the headlines himself on Easter Monday. Max Flamingo, a cosy winner of his beginners chase at Thurles last month, is towards the top of the ante-post market for the marathon contest. Casey told journalist Dave Keena:- “I think he has a good chance. “It's local enough and it's probably the biggest steeplechase in the country, I know it's only a handicap but it's the biggest as regards prize money and it has a huge history to it. “It would be great, especially from a real small stable as I've only five horses in training. “My father was steeped in jumpers and he had some good ones down the years. "He always said 'I'd love to have a horse in the Irish National' but he never actually got there, they were either no good or they wouldn't stay or something like that. “Now we have a chance to have one and I think he's there on merit.”
