Castle Bar is another for Berry

Castle Bar Sling may have came into the Jason Fallon Live July 8th Handicap with pretty unappealing form figures but he had friends in the betting ring as he found 14/1 from 20/1 and those investors are sure to have been more than pleased with the ride Fran Berry gave the six-year-old to score.

Berry got a lovely split on the rail at the business end and Castle Bar Sling went on to beat Lime Tree Valley by half a length. The gambled-on favourite Diamond Shower tried to make all but the writing was on the wall for him from some way out.

Thomond O'Mara trains Castle Bar Sling for Los Angeles-based Bartholomew Murphy and the Tipperary handler said: "This is his trip although I thought he might need the run. He has won off similar marks before though and it'll be more of the same for him from now on."

This was Fran Berry's ninth success of the campaign and he is doing well to reach that score with winners coming for Jessica Harrington, Dandy Nicholls, James Ryan, Patrick Prendergast, Richard Brabazon, Christy Roche, Edward O'Grady and now Thomond O'Mara too.
