Jimmy Mangan favours Limerick over Leopardstown for Castlebrook's shot at Grade One glory over Christmas.

All roads lead to the Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Steeplechase on St Stephen's Day for the six-year-old gelding, who won his beginners' chase at Wexford in October by five lengths.

The former point-to-point winner is very much unexposed over fences having since finished third to Getabird in Gowran Park last month.

Co Cork trainer Mangan said: "He's a very big horse and he loves the heavy ground and I'd rather go to Limerick than Leopardstown. One of the reasons is the heavier the ground the better.

"He has improved again (since his last run). Now he may now to as the competition is pretty strong in the novice grade in this country with Faugheen and all them back, but my fella is an up-and-coming horse.

"The further he goes the better - he's probably a real three-mile chaser."
