Trainer Ian Donoghue said that Catena Zapata, who has won his last couple of hurdle races in Downpatrick and Kibeggan with vastly-different tactics, is on a mid-season break.

Bought out of a Killarney Claiming Race in July, the seven-year-old ran too free when down the field on the Flat at Galway on stable debut but redeemed himself when winning twice over flights subsequently.

Having made all to score at Downpatrick earlier this month, the gelding came from last to first when following up at Kilbeggan recently.

Ian Donoghue said: "Great horse!

"We are actually going to give him a break, he got a bit of a bang the other day.

"He'll be back for the spring."
