CHANGE SET FOR RETURN

Connections are hoping to give Happy Change his first run of the season over the weekend before a possible assault on the season`s major prizes over hurdles.

Mark Johnston`s charge holds entries in both the Letheby & Christopher Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Tickhill Levy Board Handicap Hurdle at Doncaster on Saturday.

Ground conditions and jockey availability will help determine where the seven-year-old runs before a possible crack at the Tote Gold Trophy, for which he is a 14-1 chance with the sponsors.

Mark Gichero of owners The Winning Line said today: 'He will hopefully run over the weekend.

'The ground and jockey availability will play a part in where he goes and we`ll discuss it with Mark over the next couple of days.

'We certainly wouldn`t run him if it came up very heavy.

'He`s in very good form and it fits in nicely with what we want to do for the rest of the season.

'He`s out of the handicap at the moment in the Tote Gold Trophy and he needs to win to show he`s good enough for a race like that and to get him into the handicap.'

Happy Change`s sole run over hurdles came at Uttoxeter last season where he was beaten by Thelonius.

However, he was subsequently awarded the race following Thelonius` disqualification after testing positive for a banned substance.
