Chapman Full Of Praise For Quito

David Chapman yesterday paid a glowing tribute to Quito after his veteran stable star made the headlines when landing an 18th career success on his 100th racecourse appearance at Haydock.

The tough as teak nine-year-old has scooped just over #370,000 in prize money and scored five times at Listed level, including Thursday's heroics, but despite the frequency of his appearances on the track, Chapman told At The Races he has not always been an easy horse to keep straight.

'I always knew he was a good horse right from the very first time we ran him, but he's not always been sound,' he said.

'That's been his main trouble, but the vets have just about managed to keep on top of that.

'We had his joints cleaned up during the winter, and the vets down at Newmarket did a very good job. He may have to go back again, but at the moment he's fine.

'When you get older yourself you can sympathise with these old horses,' he added.
