Chapple-Hyam Expects Plane To Take Off

Peter Chapple-Hyam is optimistic Aeroplane can show his true colours in the St James's Palace Stakes at York on Tuesday.

The trainer believes the colt's last run when he was fourth to Jeremy over seven furlongs at Newmarket is best ignored and that he is better judged on his win over the same course and distance in April.

'He won that very easily but the race didn't turn out to be great and then everything went wrong at Newmarket. He twisted a shoe and came back lame on the soft ground,' Chapple-Hyam told At The Races.

'We are going there on the back of a bad run. He'll love the fast ground and he can quicken when he's right and I know I've got him right.

'I'll think he'll run very well. Araafa will be the one to beat but I'd like to think he'd run into a place definitely.'
