Chavajod strikes for the Coakley's at Limerick Ross Coakley partnered his second winner since returning to Ireland when teaming up with his father Denis, to land Division ll of the Munster Suite @ Limerick Handicap at Limerick with Chavajod. A four-time previous winner, including thrice for Coakley senior, it was the first time that his son had tasted success on the admirable grey. Tracking the pace as Nahori and Faoladh cut out the running, Chavajod came through on the outside to lead early in the straight. Having fended off Faoladh on the run to the final furlong, Coakley was then strongly pressed by Nicola Burns on the veteran Loingseoir. The pair were locked together flashing past the winning line but it was the 14/1 chance Chavajod who came out on the right side of the subsequent photo by a nose. Denis Coakley said: "I would have taken him out due to the ground today only there is no race for him for weeks. I didn't think he'd handle it but he did and Ross gave him a very good ride as he got the best of the ground travelling wide the whole way. "He has been tailed off every other time he had run on soft-to-heavy but we knew he was in good form today. The (recent) shower of rain helped, as it loosened up the ground. "He will go out of the 0-70 bracket now but we don't care as we've a winner and he is my only horse at the moment. That's 14 or 15 winners we've had from 80 runners in recent years so it is brilliant." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
