Cheveley Park a possibility for Kiyoshi

Trainer Charlie Hills has nominated the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket as a possible target for Kiyoshi following her good run in defeat in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Dubawi filly was sent off favourite for the seven-furlong Group One following a sensational performance in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, and her potent acceleration was once again evident as she swept to the lead a furlong out.

But just as she had done at Ascot, Kiyoshi edged to her right under pressure and was unable to resist the late thrust of Clive Brittain's Rizeena.

Kiyoshi was then demoted from second to third position, having been deemed to have caused interference, with Aidan O'Brien's Tapestry handed the runner-up spot.

Hills said: "She's come out of the race fine, there are no problems at all. I thought she showed a very good turn of foot and showed she is a top-class filly. I think the first three are all top class.

"Clive Brittain's filly has lots of size and scope and is clearly very good, as is Aidan O'Brien's filly."

Hills insists Kiyoshi's apparent waywardness is not something he is going to lose sleep over.

He said: "Jamie (Spencer) said she didn't really hang, it was just a case of her changing her legs a bit and then she straightened up well - I don't think it's an issue.

"The Cheveley Park has been mentioned, but we're in no rush to nominate a definite target. She clearly has bags of speed, so coming back to six furlongs shouldn't be an issue.

"That's not to say seven furlongs is a problem - she got the trip well on Sunday - but there isn't a Group One race for her over seven."

Hills also provided a positive update on the well-being of fellow Qatar Racing-owned runner Just The Judge, who suffered a foot injury when disappointing on her latest appearance in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwod.

The Lambourn handler said: "She's fine and did a good piece of work on Saturday. There has been no race named for her yet. We'll probably make a plan in the next week or so."
