Class prevails as Trustyourinstinct lands Orby Stakes The Joseph O'Brien trained Trustyourinstinct gave weight and a beating to a sextet of rivals as he ran out an ultimately impressively winner of the Listed Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Orby Stakes at the Curragh. Held up in mid division in the initial stages, as stablemate San Salvador took them along, Dylan Browne McMonagle moved third on the 5/4f entering the home straight. As Magical Hope took over in front, San Salvador weakened, allowing Trustyourinstinct take second. Pushed along to dispute over two-furlongs out, McMonagle asserted on the market leader over 200 yards out. Keeping on strongly inside the final furlong, the five-year-old Churchill gelding went away to score readily by four-lengths from Romzina. “It’s lovely to have a winner here this weekend, a couple of horses ran well yesterday,” said O’Brien. “He’s a lovely horse, very consistent and he loves it here at the Curragh. I’m delighted to have a nice winner for JP. “He’s a home-bred of JP and Noreen’s and everybody will get an extra kick out of that. “He always turns up and runs his race. He was behind Los Angeles here the last day, it was a very credible run, and dropping down into Listed class today he’s won impressively. “He’s well enough handicapped over hurdles but he doesn’t really jump with great fluency. He’ll probably stick to the Flat. “He’s a very solid Listed/Group 3 horse and he pays his way every year. We’ve ran him internationally a few times as well and we might look at that again at a later date. “He particularly loves the Curragh and it’s not a bad place to have a rapport with.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
