The Pat Fahy-trained Clovelly Charm was deemed the winner of the Clayton Hotel Mares Flat Race for jockey Harry Swan after a lengthy stewards' enquiry involving the 15/8 favourite Circus Hill who was first past the post and would have completed a treble on the card for trainer Mark McNiff.

Circus Hill was said to have drifted left and bumped her opponent, therefore causing interference, and the race was awarded to Clovelly Charm.

Speaking after the race, jockey Harry Swan said:

"I rode her here the last day and liked her a lot. She flew home and I thought she had a really good attitude, she's very genuine.

"Today I wanted to be a lot handier, but she was off the bridle a long way out and I'd say her game is three miles.

"The saddle slipped turning in and it was going the whole way up the straight. I was able to get my feet out of the irons.

"The first past the post drifted badly across the track. My filly is small and she got a bump inside the last 50 yards.

"I was fairly sure we'd get it in the stewards' room, to be honest."
