Jockey Ben Coen completed a double on the card as the Danny McLoughlin trained Nancee Spain made all to win the concluding Thank You For Your Support Handicap at Roscommon.

Third at Thurles on Thursday, the Mrs Carol Henley owned mare showed no ill effects, as she led pillar to post.

Pushed along before the straight, the well backed 11/4 chance (from 9/2), kicked clear over two furlongs from the finish.

Stretching clear on the testing ground inside the last furlong, the three-year-old galloped on strongly to win by 15 lengths.

“I thought the last day in Thurles that the winner sprinted past her and then she kept battling to the line, it wasn’t her fault,” said McLoughlin.

“I said to Ben today on that ground to put them to the sword and he did. He gave her a brilliant ride.

“He said he had to keep the gun to her head the whole way as she’s a filly that if you lay off her she’d turn around on you. She is a little bit strange but she has plenty of ability.

“She is a slow learner and hopefully there is still plenty of improvement in her.

“I think she’ll go on any ground but the Calyxs seem to want a cut in the ground.

“That might be her for the year. There is a mile-and-six in Navan next week but I’d rather step her up in trip next year. She’s had a lot of runs close together.”
