Fixation justified favourtism in the finale at Dundalk tonight with a convincing success, giving Ben Coen a double on the card.

The 11/8 shot had finished mid-division in the Northfields Handicap at the Curragh last time.

He tracked front-runner Tribal Star in tonight's mile-and-a-half contest before hitting the front early in the straight.

The Johnny Murtagh-trained gelding edged right on to the rail a furlong out but had plenty in the tank late on to beat Quatre Bras by a length-and-a-half.

Coen said:- “He's a very talented horse. I was a bit disappointed with him on Champions Weekend but the ground was a bit dead and it felt like it just took his turn of foot away from him.

“There was never a moment's doubt today and it was very straightforward.

“I would probably have liked a lead for a bit longer but we didn't go quick and I wanted to get him rolling. He hit the line strong.

“He'll be a fun horse and I think you could travel with him, he handles quick ground.

“He's kind of ran out of time here this year. Hopefully we have him for next year.”
