Cold Hearted and Shane Foley gunned down the odds-on-favourite Stella Alpina to claim the Spar Shop At The Curragh Maiden.

Stella Alpina (10/11) was really crying out for the line in the closing stages of this extended six-furlong maiden and Cold Hearted saw her chance in the final 100 yards.

She closed up on the favourite and collared her with more than 50 yards to travel. The 3/1 chance scored by half a length from the favourite with Marlborough Place (7/2) the same distance away in third.

This was Cold Hearted's seventh outing having been placed on four occasions.

Jessica Harrington said: "She deserved that, I deserved it too after all the seconds I was getting!

“She toughed it out well, which was great. They went very quick and it helped her.

“We’ll maybe look for a three-year-old only handicap over the six furlongs. We’ll probably put her in a good one and keep her on a light weight - there’s not much of her, but she tries very hard.”
