Coleman gets 4 days for Welsh National Aidan Coleman has been handed a four-day ban by the British Horseracing Authority for his winning ride on Emperor's Choice in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow. Coleman partnered the Venetia Williams-trained gelding to a short-head victory in the Chepstow feature on December 27, with the local stewards raising no concerns about his ride on the day. The BHA subsequently decided Coleman used his whip above the permitted level and planned to hold a meeting about it at Chepstow on Friday, but that fixture was abandoned and it was switched to after racing at Ascot on Saturday. Coleman took his late punishment on the chin. He said: "He's like a lot of these staying chasers in that he's hard work. That's why it is hard to know the number of smacks, and maybe it is something to work on. "I'm happy with what's happened and that was the margin of error and it's done."
