Come What May impresses in Listed company The Aidan O'Brien-trained Come What May (4/6F) takes the Trigo Stakes (Listed Race) in emphatic style over a mile and a quarter at Leopardstown. The now twice raced colt scored promisingly on debut when beating subsequent maiden winner Almazann by three and a half lengths. A full brother to Derby winner Desert Crown, he adopted similar tactics of prominence under Wayne Lordan today. The Coolmore-owned three-year-old, in the colours of Michael Tabor, was shaken up with two furlongs to go. The bay quickened clear over a furlong out and galloped on stoutly to beat Diego El Queso (17/2) by six lengths. Snellen stayed on from the rear for third, beaten a further half-length. "In fairness he just took time to come to hand. He's a big horse and Aidan gave him all the time he needed to strengthen up. He was fierce impressive the first day at the Curragh but I think he was even more impressive here. To come here with just one run and to do that against horses with plenty experience and solid form was ultra impressive,” enthused assistant trainer Chris Armstrong. “He'll even appreciate going up in trip again. He's in the horses in training sale but whether they take him out and keep him for next year will be decided over the next week. I'd say he's a horse with above average ability."
