Connections savour Listowel success with Glin Road Boy Philip Byrnes landed a quick double when partnering Glin Road Boy, trained by his father Charles, to win the Brandon Hotel Handicap Hurdle at Listowel this afternoon. Owned by Rienroe House Stud, the strong 7/4 favourite improved on his runner-up finish at Sligo last time as he picked off Ado McGuinness’ 7/2 chance Granlahan after the final hurdle to win by three-parts of a length. “It’s a fabulous win for the owner Paddy Mulvihill. He’s from Moyvane, which is only down the road, but he’s living in Limerick now,” said Byrnes. “It means a lot for him to have a winner at Listowel. “He’s had horses on and off with me for a good number of years. We’ve had one or two winners, but nothing serious. Hopefully this fella might nick a few more. “He ran well the last day, but it was probably more competitive here.
