Consistent Carrigans strikes again The consistent Carrigans Grove recorded her second success of the season when running out a game winner of the ARKequine Handicap at Naas. Gary Carroll came to lead narrowly on the 5/2 favourite over a furlong from home and she held off American In Paris to secure a head verdict. The Pat Flynn-trained Carrigans Grove had won at Dundalk in April before two runner-up efforts at Cork and Fairyhouse. Carroll said:- “She’s been solid and was unlucky last time when the winner got first run on me, so it was grand to see her get her just rewards. “She probably just got away with the drop back in trip and I’d say she’s more of a six-furlong filly. Hopefully there is more in her.” The win came on the same day that it was revealed that Carroll has been hit with a 14-day ban for his winning ride on Cercene in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.   (Quotes by Alan Magee)
