Bookmaker Coral makes it odds-on at 2-5 for there to be an Irish-trained Grand National winner this year following the launch of the weights for the race. It is 7-4 with the firm that the winner is trained in the UK.

Rachael Blackmore became the first female jockey in history in 2021 to ride the winner of the race. It is 14-1 for the winner to be ridden by a female rider, while it is 10-1 that a female trained horse prevails.

“Irish-trained horses have dominated the Grand National over the last five years and we make it odds-on that another horse trained in Ireland prevails again in 2021,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Rachael Blackmore made history in 2021 by becoming the first female jockey to prevail in the race. We make it 14-1 that a female rider comes out on top again,” added Hill.

Galvin is the 14-1 favourite with Coral, after the weights were announced for this year’s race at Aintree.

Last year’s winner Minella Times is 20-1 to repeat his success, with 15lb more on his back this time around, while Tiger Roll is 25-1 to match Red Rum’s record of three victories in the marathon contest.

“Galvin has had success at the highest level this season and goes into the Gold Cup with strong claims. He will need to carry joint-top weight in the Grand National, but he tops the betting to give Gordon Elliott another success in the world’s most famous steeplechase,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Minella Times and Tiger Roll are both at the top end of the betting to come out on top in the race,” added Hill.
