Gold Cup winning trainer Gavin Cromwell is looking forward to seeing Encanto Bruno return to action in the Fibrus Gallop At Gigabit Speeds Beginners Chase at Down Royal this afternoon.

A three-time winner for John McConnell, the gelding made a winning stable debut for Cromwell at Cheltenham in October 2023 but failed to build on that on four subsequent starts.

Having been pulled up on his chasing debut when last seen, Cromwell is hoping that the seven-year-old can yet deliver on his undoubted potential.

He said: "He picked up an injury on his last start back in Gowran.

"We are just hopeful of a good run, it has been difficult enough to get him back.

"He seems to be in good form and hopeful of a good run.

"He is absolutely (a horse with plenty of ability in his locker), probably just hasn't achieved what he could have. Hopefully, he is still a young horse."
