Cromwell pleased with Flooring Porter's winning start over fences Gavin Cromwell's horses continue in sparkling form and Flooring Porter was one of three horses from his yard which were victorious at Cheltenham's opening two-day fixture. Dual Stayers' Hurdle winner Flooring Porter made a winning debut over fences when beating three rivals under new jockey Keith Donoghue at Prestbury Park on Saturday. Speaking at Galway yesterday where he saddled another winner in Hascoeur Clermont, Cromwell said: "Flooring Porter could go for the Grade 1 three-mile novice chase at Leopardstown over Christmas but that's not for certain yet. "He jumped very well on Saturday and it was only at a few ditches, which had huge big white take-off boards, that he had a look at. He was a little long and dragged his hind legs at two but it was his first time over fences so we'll allow that. "On ratings he should be beating those horses but if he had gone around on his own, you'd still have been happy. He was very mature and grown up about the whole thing. "Keith was happy enough if he had to drop in yesterday but it turned out he didn't need to, and I can't see it being a problem with taking a lead next time. He has become pretty straightforward."
