Cromwell ponders spring festivals for Darver Star Better ground is firmly on the agenda for Darver Star after he finished well behind Energumene in the Grade One Arkle at the Dublin Racing Festival. Gavin Cromwell's charge dropped towards the rear at the halfway stage and was eased in the straight as he came home seventh at Leopardstown, more than 30 lengths adrift of the the winner. The trainer said: "He just didn't travel on that (soft) ground like he can do on the better ground. "On that ground do you step up in trip? I'm not really sure. He's definitely better on better ground. "Yes, I suppose (go for the spring festivals for better ground). It's a little bit back to the drawing board."
