Cromwell to take patient approach with Redstone Gavin Cromwell enjoyed success at the Winter Festival in Fairyhouse through Brides Hill in the mares' handicap chase on Sunday, and afterwards gave his reflections on a couple of his horses who were below-par over the weekend. Redstone went off 7/4 favourite for the Close Brothers Rated Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Saturday, but finished sixth after dropping away from two out. Cromwell said: “His run was too bad to be true. I had him in the Royal Bond as well and thought an awful lot of him all along. “It was very disappointing and, hopefully, we find something at some stage. We certainly won’t be rushing back with him." Stumptown travelled over to Newbury for the Coral Gold Cup on Saturday, but was pulled up before four out by Danny Mullins on good to soft, good in places ground. "It rode like good ground for him and he was flat to the boards everywhere and was hampered a little bit," the trainer said. “He did the right thing and pulled him up.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
