Crowds and Tote betting up at Listowel Listowel has certainly bucked the trend in the current tough economic climate as total attendance over the past three flagship days of the Festival meeting have shown an increase on the corresponding days last year. The eye-catching figure was certainly yesterday's “Ladies Day” fixture with 24,895 patrons passing through the turnstiles at the Co. Kerry track. This showed an increase of 1,726 on the same day last year. The Kerry National meeting on Wednesday attracted 26,969 racegoers, down just 946 on the 2008 figure. The Thursday crowd of 18,582 (down 371) also held up well in comparison to the general trend this year. Tote betting also compares favourably with 2008 figures as the same three days show a slight increase this year.
