The John Ryan-trained Crystabel (5/1) gave trainer John Ryan and jockey Daniel King a quickfire double as she ran out a 3 1/2-length winner of the Racing TV Irish RBF Mares Handicap Hurdle.

Crystabel was always prominent throughout and she managed to get away from her rivals. Even after a slight mistake at the last, she went on to record a comfortable success.

Speaking after the race, trainer John Ryan said:

"She was beaten a nose in a three-year-old bumper in England and Mark Fleming and Geoff Bruce bought her after that.

"She had a bad fall in a four-year-old maiden hurdle and it took a while to get her right.

"Daniel is a wonderful rider and has done all the schooling with her. It was his first time to ride her in a race, but he knows her well and she relaxed well for him.

"She likes nice ground and should be able to progress from here."
