Cue Card back to winning ways

Cue Card got back to winning ways over fences in the Betfred Goals Galore Novices' Chase at Newbury.

Joe Tizzard set out to make all against his three rivals and still held the advantage turning up the home straight for the final time.

Walkon moved up to make a challenge at the third last but a blunder there and at two out put paid to his chances as the eventual winner made the best of his way to glory.

It was up to For Non Stop to make a late bid to reel in Cue Card but Nick Williams' charge never looked like getting to him on the run-in and went down by four lengths.

Walkon completed in his own time for third while Minella Class made a bad mistake in the back straight and unseated David Bass.

The winner is 10/1 from 16s for the Arkle and 6/1 from 10s for the Jewson Novices' Chase with Sky Bet.

Tizzard senior said: "I think we've been a little bit forgotten about this year.

"It was obvious we were trying to crank him up in distance, but looking at that we will bring him back and go down the Arkle route as he's got so much pace.

"Joe said in that ground he wasn't jumping the way he can but it looked all right to me.

"He'll have one more run and go for the Arkle."
